“A New Day” in Egypt: man names his newborn daughter “Facebook”

by Larry Geller

Would there have been an uprising in Egypt without Facebook and Twitter? Could there have been? Probably. But Egyptians give credit where credit is due. See: To Celebrate The #Jan25 Revolution, Egyptian Names His Firstborn “Facebook” (TechCrunch, 2/19/2011).

Here’s a video by the New York Times on a Cairo “Facebook flat”. It looks high-tech, but keep in mind that if protesters lose in the end, these protesters and citizen journalists risk being tortured and killed.
