For the record, the leaked Copenhagen agreement

by Larry Geller

This is last week’s hot news, but in case you have not seen it, here are links to the leaked “Danish Text” and a summary from The Guardian (12/8/2009).

The UN Copenhagen climate talks are in disarray today after developing countries reacted furiously to leaked documents that show world leaders will next week be asked to sign an agreement that hands more power to rich countries and sidelines the UN's role in all future climate change negotiations.

The document was described last night by one senior diplomat as "a very dangerous document for developing countries. It is a fundamental reworking of the UN balance of obligations. It is to be superimposed without discussion on the talks".

See the complete article for details on why this bodes ill for a successful outcome of the conference.

Some of the links to the document are down for some reason. If the above link does not work, try this one, or this one, or this one. If none work after awhile, drop me a comment.

For some reason this document has been made hard to download.

Conspiracy theory, anyone?
