Hawaii case against Governor's emergency proclamation heard by state Supreme Court

From an article posted Wednesday May 15 on the Courthouse News Service website:

This case is not occurring in isolation. Across the country, we are witnessing a growing trend of invoking emergency powers to bypass legislative deliberation, not to address urgent time-bound disasters, but to pursue major policy goals unilaterally. --
plaintiff attorney Lance Collins

The article, by Jeremy Yurow, Hawaii governor defends emergency housing powers at state Supreme Court, describes a challenge filed in August 2023 to Governor Josh Green's emergency proclamation to expand affordable housing opportunities in Hawaii. The challenge echos similar actions recently filed across the country challenging many of President Trump's emergency declarations.

For details, please see the article linked above.

A full history of the case is available at the courts website here.
