Common Cause calls for DOJ to investigate justices over coflicts in the Citizen United case

by Larry Geller

Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, has called for the Department of Justice to investigate apparent conflicts of interest in the Citizens United case. Citizens United was perhaps the court’s grandest example of judicial activism, overturning precedent to give corporations the right to spend without limit on political campaigns.

On Anniversary of Citizens United Ruling, Common Cause Calls on Justice Dept. to Investigate Scalia and Thomas over Conflicts of Interest

Federal Election Commission, that opened the floodgates for unlimited corporate spending on election campaigns. Comments:

Republicans don't consider this conflict of interest but business as usual. I don't expect any action from the DOJ since Attorney General Eric Holder is a former high priced corporate attorney. His appointment by President Obama was the equilivant of Obama appointing former Goldman Sachs executives as his economic advisors. As a supporter of President Obama it pains me to say this.
