Why not eliminate the middleman and have US taxpayers deposit $20 billion in BP’s escrow fund?

by Larry Geller

Remember the recent news that BP hasn’t yet made its $5 billion deposit into the escrow fund to reimburse those damaged by its oil spill?

Now this: BP to cut U.S. tax bill by $10 billion because of losses in gulf spill (Washington Post, 7/27/2010).

So heck, why wait for BP. Obama can write a check to the escrow fund out of our taxes, because it looks like they’re going to have Uncle Sam (that is, you and me) pick up the tab anyway.

Comments:

Wow, this is incredible. Thanks for finding the disappeared news!

How about when BP shows a profit, they write a check to us tax payers directly?

Requiring those Captcha codes at least temporarily, in the hopes that it quells the flood of comment spam I've been receiving.
