G20 in Toronto—a preview of APEC 2011 in Honolulu?

So what will Honolulu look like when APEC (Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation) meets here in 2011?
The cost of the Toronto meetings is an astonishing $2 billion Canadian (approximately). What will Toronto get in return?
Hawaii hopes for recognition as a place to conduct international business in exchange for hosting APEC. Why any country would want to conduct business in Hawaii just because a conference was held here isn’t clear.
Pittsburgh hosted the G20 last year and hoped for economic gains but has realized very little.
