Follow DePledge for more legislative news

by Larry Geller

I think this is one of the best uses of the new social media. It takes someone at the other end of it to make it work. Add a knowledgeable reporter to the network and you get gold.

Today’s legislative action is being documented wonderfully in real time by Derrick DePledge’s tweets.

Here’s just a few… go follow DePledge, there’s lots more. Even if you don’t tweet yourself, you can click on the link to view his recent messages.

House backs taking unspecified amount from the state's rainy day fund to help education and social service programs. about 1 hour ago via web

House votes for a constitutional amendment asking voters if the state Board of Education should be appointed by the governor, not elected.

I’m happy to see this tweet:

House wants a task force to study Department of Human Services' plan to close eligibility offices in favor of telephone and online reviews.

He’s still tweeting as I type this.
