Yikes – a pandemic of retail store closings

by Larry Geller

You can view a list of retail store closings in 2008 here, and in 2009 (supposed to be continuously updated) here.

Yikes!

When some of the larger stores close, the mall that they were anchoring may also run into difficulties.

Footlocker, formerly Venator, formerly Woolworths, is closing everything. That’s 4,000 stores.

The list is extensive. Check out the articles because they have more details, but here is the 2008 list snipped for you:

Again, there is more detail at the articles linked, check them out.

If you like videos, here is a link to one narrated in American Sign Language. Stick with it, though, and see the parade of closing stores.

Comments:

Wow,

Woolworth closing ALL stores
CompUSA closing ALL stores
SharperImage closing All stores

Amazing, esp. the Woolworth. That's an institution going back over 100 years.
